Located in Iran’s northern city of Bandar-e Gaz, the Livani cotton refining plant is the oldest of its kind still in operation. The factory was listed as a national heritage site in August 2005. It was the first among four cotton refining plants inaugurated in Bandar-e Gaz in 1846. The city became a major commercial hub and expanded its trade ties in the following decades.
